Chainsaw man will be anime of the year
Titles like Demon slayer and its fresh approach to a revenge plot or jujutsu kaisen revolutionising the battle shonen format or my hero academia and its subtle yet impactful approach to social commentary on society's hero worship (which I plan to cover eventually). All fresh new ideas drifting away from the scream to power up format of the old days of shonen were.
But none quite stand out as much as chainsaw man, which is getting animated later this year by the studio that gave us Jujutsu Kaisen and the final season of Attack On Titan.
Chainsaw man follows Denji, a 15 year old devil hunter in a world where monsters known as devils are born from human fear. I won't go too deep into the story so as to not run the risk of spoiling but the jist of it is, Denji works for the Yakuza at the beginning of the story and after some shenanigans involving zombies, Denji fuses with the chainsaw devil and becomes chainsaw man and is later found and recruited by the public safety division headed by Makima.
Denji is then partnered with Aki, a self destructive edgy dude who's got beef with the gun devil and Power (Power is best girl), a devilman who loves blood and only tolerates human.
Chainsaw man hosts an abundance of characters who I again won't go into detail about because spoilers but I can tell y'all what I think of it.
The fights in Chainsaw man are crazy and are illustrated extremely well with a heavy use of action lines, dynamic poses and very gore heavy almost horror like action shots.
Not to mention how many plot twists the main story has and only in it's first few chapters alone.
Basically when going into Chainsaw man throw any theories out the window, you're probably wrong.
Chainsaw Man is arguably the best shonen manga out right now. It has phenomenal action, loveable characters and crazy good art. It also has Makima...
All my homies love Makima.
As always good content
