Stuff I watched last month

This is long overdue, I meant to post this a month ago but stuff came up that I'd rather not get into (I was sad), but I'm back and I will be reviewing 2 movies I saw last month in one article cause I didn't care about either of these movies, not because they were bad but because I just didn't care.

Anyway y'all know the vibes, hella jokes, hella slang talk, hella analytics and hella hip hop references let's get it.

SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

I uh, I didn't have a problem with this one. A lot of people did but I found at least some of the jokes funny and I'd probably watch it again if I need a break from media that makes me question my existence...(I'm never watching Evangelion again)

Space Jam: A new legacy is a sequel to the original Space Jam this time starring LeBron James and not Michael Jordan but he's referenced once or twice.

The plot is LeBron has to save his son from an evil algorithm named (and I can't believe this is his actual name) Al-g Rhythm...get it? Like... algorithm? Also he's played by Don Cheadle. In order to save his son King James gotta team up with recognizable Warner Bros characters and play in a basketball game, of course he teams up with the Loony Tunes cause why not? It's Space Jam, having Space Jam without the Loony Tunes is like America without guns, it just doesn't work.

Anyway LeBron and the Loony Tunes do the whole basketball thing and it's exactly what you'd expect, a bunch of characters doing wacky stuff, a life lesson here and there and a bunch of pop culture references.

And this movie has A LOT of pop culture references. It's like 80% references to stuff Warner Bros owns like DC, Hannah Barbera, Game of thrones, Rick and Morty, they're all there, which weird cause most of those IPs aren't kid friendly and this is a kids movie but anyway.

The characters are alright, I mean it's essentially a Loony Tunes movie so they act exactly how you'd expect them to act. LeBron's performance was meh, he kinda felt like he didn't want to do this movie in most scenes and in others he kinda gave it his all or just seemed like he was having fun which was... alright I guess.

The whole movie is decent, nothing special but it's fine for what it is. 5/10

Also I wanted to put a hip hop reference in there but I couldn't think of anything besides the fact that Porky did an homage to Notorious B.I.G in the movie and it was cringe cause he was rapping to the flava in ya ear beat.

FAST 9

After watching this movie I quickly realized why the Rock left the franchise.

Fast 9 is easily the worst one in the franchise. The pacing in the beginning is super fast and you're just left wondering what the heck happened.

The plot is your typical mission impossible spy action movie cliche thing. Dom's brother Jacob (Played by John Cena), some swedish rich kid and Cypher from the last movie are trying to acquire some piece of tech that takes over the world or something, idk it wasn't interesting enough for me to care and Dom and crew are trying to stop him after discovering Mr Nobody from the previous movies has gone missing (which was a plot point that was never explored again).

This movie was bad, I won't even sugar coat it, it was bad. The pacing was weird, the plot was bad and there's so many impossible things that happen in this movie it makes you question whether or not these characters are just unknown Marvel heroes.

And the movie has the audacity to think just because Roman makes forth wall breaking jokes about how they survive all this crazy stuff we can forgive them? NO! WE CAN'T!!

But I'm getting carried away. There were stuff I liked about this movie, like how well choreographed the fight scenes were and how there was a shared fight scene between the female leads and the bad guys, that was pretty cool and I really enjoyed the themes of forgiveness and... Of course FAMILY.

Overall Fast 9 was meh and like Space Jam it's a 5/10 for me.

I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on these movies so be sure to comment and follow me on Twitter @BlackErenJeager and on Instagram @Mugejin48

I'll be doing a review of The Suicide Squad on Friday so uh keep your eyes peeled for that.

Peace out and remember to drink water.

  1. I thought both films were horrendous. Terrible writing and acting across the board
